TrueCrypt is on-the-fly disk encryption software that can create a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a real disk. It can also encrypt an entire hard disk partition, or a storage device such as USB memory stick. It supports plausible deniability.

Changes:
Parallelized encryption and decryption was introduced on multi-core processors (or multi-processor systems). The increase in encryption/decryption speed is directly proportional to the number of cores and/or processors. New features include the ability to create and run an encrypted hidden operating system whose existence is impossible to prove (provided that certain guidelines are followed), the ability to encrypt an entire system drive even if it contains extended partitions, and a new volume format that increases reliability, performance, and expandability.
