About:
OpenVerse is similar to other graphical chat
systems like Excite Chat and Microsoft Chat, with
the main differences being that OpenVerse is open
source software, has no advertisements, and also
runs on a variety of systems including Windows,
Unix, Macintosh, and just about anything else for
which you can find a copy of TCL/TK.

Changes:
The OpenVerse Rapid Transit system was improved by including a self-generating/updating web page and by providing the users much more information about the servers. A new game, "Monthello", was introduced. Download progress bars are now colored to indicate transfer direction. The client was changed to detect protocol-level errors. Many documentation changes were made. It is now easier to shut off private messaging with multiple users. A number of bugs in the client were fixed.

Most fun I've had with my linux box
by Project7 - Jul 12th 2000 22:00:23
I started using OV back in April of 2000, and have been in there every day
ever since. It's not moderated line #linux on certain irc servers *ahem* so
you won't get booted for asking "has anyone ever tried Corel Linux", and it
isn't the next best thing since sliced bread (which IMHO is swirley rhye
bread) but what it *is* is just plain fun! As long as you don't have a
Toaster running a proctor/gramble 32 bit OS, then try OpenVerse.

i just started using this program a couple of weeks ago, and this new
release really is awesome! The ORT is a fun new feature. If you are looking
for a change of pace and a great visual chat program, check this out. Even
the download is not very big too! Come by sometime, hope to see you there.
